Magellan Constuction is excited to announce the completion of our project for Grifols Plasma Donation Center in Alexandria, Louisiana. Grifols wiill be hosting an open house on September 1 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. The 15,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility is the latest addition to Grifols’ extensive plasma donor center network. Grifols is a major manufacturer of life-saving plasma therapies produced from donations of human plasma that are used to treat small, chronically-ill patient populations.
Grifols operates the largest network of plasma donor centers in the world that includes over 150 centers in the United States. This new center is Grifols first plasma donor center in Alexandria.
The new building's design incorporates new industry technologies including Donor Doc, a donor self-registration platform that helps improve donor screening efficiency. Over the next several years, the center’s goal is to accommodate 1,000 donors per week who will help further Grifols mission of meeting the need for life-saving medicines to treat patients globally.
This Grifols plasma donor center will ultimately contribute over $3.0 million each year to the local economy through payroll, donor fees and other operating expenses. The center employs 25 people from the Alexandria area, with expectations to add up to 40 employees as the center expands its operations.
This event will feature a behind the scenes tour of the new facility as well as an opportunity to learn about Grifols, the importance of plasma donation and role of plasma medicines.
